Rick Cavender Band

Rick Canvender
If you live in San Antonio or know someone who does, chances are pretty good that you already know something about Rick and his group. This is the same Rick Cavender who shows up on television and radio for his family's well-known car dealerships. But this is also a man with a talent and a strong desire to entertain.
Rick first brought his band to prominence back in 1989 when he won the "Battle of the Bands" competition, a KJ 97 radio sponsored event. His band competed against 54 other local artists. He then opened for Hall & Oats and George Strait in front of 100,000 spectators at Randy Quaid's famous Miller Party to benefit Special Olympics.
Since that time, the Rick Cavender band has captured a great deal of attention. They have opened for the American Cancer Society's Cattle Baron Galas around the state for artists such as George Strait, Willie Nelson, Jerry Jeff Walker and Alabama. Other artists Rick and his band have performed with include Patty Loveless, Highway 101, Alan Jackson, Hank Thompson, Ray Price and Lee Greenwood.
Rick's group is probably best known for the memorable entertainment they provide for local charity events, conventions and weddings. The Rick Cavender Band has performed for well-known San Antonio Galas such as the Witte Game Dinner, The Texas Twilight Gala benefiting Cystic Fibrosis, The Bexar County Hospice Gala, the San Antonio Zoo's Zoobilation Ball, the Mission Road Grand Western Gala and many others. His band has played successfully in front of some of San Antonio's largest convention gatherings such as the San Antonio Restaurant Association's Taste of the Town event, the National Association of Parks and Recreation, the Institute of Property Taxation, the National Middle School's Association and the State Bar Association.
