Born and raised in the beautiful, historic, multi-cultural city of San Antonio and with over two decades of performance experience, Leslie Lugo has become an integral part of today’s Latin music scene. A versatile, bilingual and seasoned performer, Leslie has embraced her Mexican-American heritage singing in English and Spanish engaging her audience with her powerful voice, captivating stage presence, and charismatic personality. She is a chameleon-like entertainer diversifying her talents to encompass all facets of the arts; as a professional recording artist and award winning singer/songwriter, an accomplished studio musician and voice over talent, a noted percussionist, a former TV show personality and, most recently, an actress currently filming an upcoming movie. Leslie is known for her unique ability of effortlessly crossing musical boundaries and performing a wide range of musical genres in English and Spanish. A sought-after, exciting entertainer, Leslie’s prolific career continues to make an indelible mark on today’s ever-evolving music scene performing for National & International Conventions, National/Regional/Local Organizations, High profile city, community, social and special events as well as upscale venues, clubs, festivals and concerts.
The Leslie Lugo Band, with a devoted fan base, is one of the most popular bands in South and Central Texas with an extensive repertoire catering to a wide diverse audience and includes American standards, Top 40, ballads, rock, dance, pop, jazz, disco and Latin & tropical rhythms such as: baladas, cumbia, salsa, merengue, rancheras, bachata, Mariachi and Tejano music.

Most recently, Leslie Lugo took the stage for an inspiring, emotional performance of the spiritual hymn, “Amazing Grace” in English/Spanish at the 2010 Alcoholics Anonymous International Convention, the largest convention in San Antonio history. She performed to a packed San Antonio Alamodome before an estimated 60,000 in attendance from 98 countries. Leslie toured as Lead vocalist for International Super Star, Cristian Castro on his extensive tour with performances in South America and the Caribbean, Ecuador, The Dominican Republic, Las Vegas, New York, Los Angeles and many more. Leslie Lugo’s voice was featured on the soundtrack of the 2010 Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp movie, “Machete” directed by Robert Rodriguez. Accruing a wealth of accomplishments, Leslie’s notable performance highlights include: The National Lulac Foundation, National NCLR Convention, National Tejano Convention, National OTI, The Selena World Premier Movie, State Fair Of Texas, National Latin Music Songwriting Talent Search in Los Angeles, Calif., Casino Del Sol Casino in Tucson, Arizona, Festival Latino & Noche De Gala in Washington D.C., Fiesta Mexicana in Topeka, Kansas, Houston Livestock & Rodeo, The Laredo George Washington Celebration Noche Mexicana, Colonial Ball and Noche De Cabaret ,and many more.
El Camino To Fame, a bilingual National syndicated TV show that utilized the technologies of the Internet, featured Leslie as Co-Host and was televised from Fiesta Texas Theme Park in San Antonio, Texas. Leslie was also featured on the Sam Riddle “Suenos de Fama” TV Show.
In 2006, Leslie recorded the chart-topping “Hit” Duet “Caen Porque Caen” with Tejano Music Legend Joe Posada off his “Amor Y Fuego” CD which became a National hit and was nominated for a 2006 Latin Grammy. Joe Posada and Leslie Lugo were nominated for Best Tejano Vocal Duo performance at the 2006 Tejano Music Awards and performed their “Hit” Duet LIVE at the National Tejano Convention held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Leslie’s highly anticipated self-titled Tejano CD was produced by 8 time Grammy Award winner, Gilbert Velasquez with Joe Posada acting as Executive Producer and was unveiled at the 2007 National Tejano Music Convention held at the Las Vegas Hilton in Las Vegas. Leslie’s “Hit” single, “Que Vas Hacer” heated up the Tejano radio airwaves charting top honors throughout the U.S. and Mexico positioning it as one of the top Tejano songs of 2007. In 2009, Leslie recorded the Nationwide “Hit” Duet “Si Cocinas Como Caminas” with Joe Posada off his “Point of View” CD. The CD was nominated as Best Tejano Album at the 52nd Annual 2010 Grammy’s. Also in 2009, Leslie recorded the title track Duet “Eclipse Total” with Tejano Super Star, David Marez off his “Eclipse Total” CD. The song became a Nationwide “Hit” with Leslie Lugo and David Marez performing their “Hit” song LIVE at the 2010 National Tejano Convention.
With the release of her breakthrough debut album, Leslie has been embraced by Tejano music fans worldwide and recognized by music industry professionals with several top music award nominations such as: Tejano Music Awards 2010 Female Vocalist of the Year, the coveted Univision Premios A La Musica Latina Awards 2008 Mejor Vocalista Femenina (Best Female Vocalist) and 2008 Revelacion Del Año (Best New Artist of the Year), Tejano Music Awards 2008 Female Vocalist of the Year and 2008 Most Promising Band of the Year, The Academy of Tejano Music Awards also honored Leslie Lugo with a nomination as 2007 Female Vocalist of the Year.
In 2008, Leslie Lugo joined Tejano music Super Stars, Shelly Lares, Stefani Montiel and Patsy Torres, creating the new dynamic ensemble, LAS VOCES. United in this new venture, LAS VOCES captivates the hearts of audiences with their powerful performances of traditional Mariachi music instilling them with the beauty and richness bestowed by the emotional voice of their culture.
An accomplished composer and owner of her own publishing company, LuGold Music, Leslie has written songs for many other artists. In 1999, Leslie was honored with an accolade from the Grammy’s for her songwriter performance in the Best Tejano Performance Grammy Award winning, “Said and Done” CD by Flaco Jimenez. She also co-wrote a song for Flaco Jimenez for the Woody Allen movie, “Picking Up The Pieces.”
An active, in demand studio musician with countless studio recordings, Leslie has enhanced her musical abilities and great versatility as a background vocalist by being part of other artist’s musical productions. Her collaborations with other artists have garnered an amazing four Grammy nominations.
A professional voice over performer, Leslie’s extraordinary voice can be heard from coast to coast in her impressive list of recorded Radio/Television National/Regional Commercials and jingles for Coca Cola, Time Warner, Chrysler, Dodge, Burger King, Enterprise Rent A Car, J.C. Penney, Budweiser, Folgers, Bud Light, Sears, Nescafe, Fiesta Texas, Procter & Gamble Bounty, HEB, amongst others. These commercials/jingles, which have been recorded throughout her career, were performed in English or Spanish in all styles/genres of music.
Leslie inherited her love of music from her musical family. Her father, Raul Lugo, a Professional Engineer, by trade, is also a classical guitarist. Her mother, Bitsy, and her paternal grandmother would sing at family gatherings. As a baby, Leslie’s first words were sung, not spoken. Instead of the usual “Mama” and “Dada” that most babies utter, Leslie sang “Wild Fire”, the two words of a popular song she had heard on the radio. For her amazed parents, this was the first indication that Leslie loved music. While still a baby, Leslie would carry a carrot the same way one holds a microphone, singing and making up song lyrics as she went along. Leslie’s first steps in her creative life were developed at a very early age. Barely reaching the strings of the guitar as she sang, Leslie, at 5 years old, was already performing for her pre-kindergarten class. During her early years, Leslie was The San Antonio and Texas State Winner of Young American Stars. She was a Trophy Winner at the “Talent Showcase” International Model & Talent Association in New York City where she competed against hundreds of singers from all over the world.
At the tender age of sixteen, Leslie Lugo, was selected as Lead Vocalist for one of the primer orchestras in Texas, The Ramiro Cervera Orchestra, a San Antonio institution with a 17-piece aggregation of music veterans. She performed locally, throughout Texas, as well as in other states on occasion. Shortly after, while still in High School, she joined a popular local band, Moonstruck, a Latino beat ensemble, led by experienced accomplished musicians. At eighteen years of age and the youngest performer to date, Leslie represented Texas in the prestigious National OTI song contest in Miami, Florida. She performed live, via The Univision International TV network, before an estimated 200 million television viewers in 33 countries in the U.S. and Latin America. Leslie was featured on several telecasts of “Ritmo Internacional”, a TV show via the Hispanic Telemundo Network and broadcast from Walt Disney World Pleasure Island in Orlando, Florida.

By the age of 19, Leslie Lugo struck out on her own and formed the versatile, “Leslie Lugo Band”, providing audiences with high energy shows in a variety of English/Spanish music and achieving many years of successfull performances while building and maintaining a devoted following.
With the release of her debut album, Leslie’s career has taken a new journey artistically and personally reflecting a true representation of where Leslie Lugo is today. Adding her own creativity by writing four songs on her album, the CD fuses several different Latin styles of music with Leslie performing the powerful tracts brilliantly, blending heart and soul with her unique style. Leslie’s charisma, talent and marvelous ability to captivate and enchant her audiences over the past few years has brought her to the forefront of the entertainment world as she continues celebrating great milestones in her illustrious career. One of today’s most exciting and captivating artists, Leslie Lugo is currently working on her new CD project and filming a role in an upcoming movie.
