Marimba Quest Featuring Alice Gomez
Marimba Quest is a San Antonio-based musical group known for the sonorous qualities of their marimba playing. The group specializes in music filled with the exotic rhythms of South America, Latin America, Central America and Mexico. With two recordings released nationally in 1992, Incidents of Travel and Christmas Carnaval, Marimba Quest is bringing its unique sound to audiences throughout the country. Christmas Carnaval has recently been nominated for best new "seasonal" recording by the Independent Record Producers.

Marimba Quest performed as featured artists with The San Antonio Symphony. They made their Majestic Theatre debut in 1991 in an encore number with Tejano singer Patsy Torres and the San Antonio Pops. They have performed for highly visible special events for the city of San Antonio including a dinner in 1991 to honor Mexico President Carlos Salinas de Gortari, and most recently for functions held in honor of State Representative Bob Krueger and guest speaker Vice President Al Gore, and at a function honoring Surgeon General Novello. The group features Alice Gomez, a member of the San Antonio College music faculty and composer of many published works for marimba as well as other instruments; Marilyn Rife, Principal Percussionist and Assistant Principal Timpanist with the San Antonio Symphony; and Michael Richter, Classical Guitarist and Instructor of Music at The University of Texas at San Antonio.
